Mike King visits an intensive pig farm for the first time
In May 2009 New Zealand Open Rescue took former NZ Pork Board front man Mike King inside a typical New Zealand pig farm. Despite being NZ Pork's front man for seven years, Mike had never visited a pig farm.
After watching a New Zealand Open Rescue video documenting a rescue from an Auckland intensive pig farm, Mike contacted the Open Rescue team and requested to be taken inside a typical pig farm. He was deeply shocked and dismayed at what he saw.
The footage from this investigation was a key element in a follow up expose on TVNZ's Sunday show. This expose caused a public outcry against intensive pig farming.
